Mid-Level PHP Developer (Remote)

Overview

We’re looking for a software engineer who brings both technical depth and a collaborative spirit. This is a fully remote position, which means clear, proactive communication isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s essential to how we work. You’ll take on a variety of projects, from automating document generation to building responsive web applications, and we expect you to bring your best effort to every one of them.

We care less about checking every box and more about finding someone who can own projects end-to-end, communicates openly, and is genuinely invested in doing good work.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain PHP-based applications and backend systems
• Automate PDF document generation using PDFlib
• Develop responsive, user-friendly web applications
• Write and optimize MySQL queries; design and manage relational databases
• Work within Linux environments for development, deployment, and scripting
• Communicate clearly and consistently with teammates across time zones
• Contribute ideas, flag blockers early, and keep projects moving forward

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills

• 3-5+ years of professional PHP development experience
• Hands-on experience with MySQL — schema design, query optimization, stored procedures
• Comfortable in Linux environments (CLI, bash scripting, server configuration)
• Experience with PDFlib or similar PDF generation libraries
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for responsive front-end work

• Cron jobs and task scheduling
• Basic server administration (nginx, managing a VPS)
• SMTP/transactional email (SendGrid, AWS SES)
• AWS or similar cloud hosting (S3, EC2, RDS)
• Web performance basics (caching, query optimization, page load)
