Sales Manager – Solar IndustryPosition Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and manage a team of 3-5 solar sales representatives. This role is responsible for driving sales performance, coaching team members, and ensuring consistent achievement of company sales targets. The Sales Manager will oversee the full sales pipeline, support team development, and maintain strong operational alignment with company leadership.

The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with strong solar sales experience, capable of motivating teams, improving close rates, and maintaining accountability across the sales process.

Key ResponsibilitiesSales Team Leadership

  • Manage, coach, and mentor a team of 3-5 solar sales representatives
  • Conduct regular sales meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews
  • Monitor individual and team performance against sales targets
  • Provide guidance to improve closing rates and sales effectiveness

Sales Performance Management

  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly sales metrics and KPIs
  • Ensure consistent pipeline activity including appointments, proposals, and closed deals
  • Support representatives with deal strategy and customer presentations
  • Identify performance gaps and implement improvement plans

Sales Process & Operations

  • Ensure the team follows established sales processes, scripts, and company SOPs
  • Oversee the use of CRM systems to track leads, appointments, and deal progress
  • Maintain accurate reporting and forecasting for leadership
  • Coordinate closely with operations and installation teams to ensure smooth project execution

Recruitment & Training

  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding new sales representatives
  • Provide ongoing training and development to strengthen team performance
  • Support skill development in areas such as prospecting, consultations, and closing

Team Management Scope

  • Directly manage 3-5 solar sales representatives
  • Monitor sales activity, appointment generation, and deal closures
  • Maintain accountability through clear KPIs and performance standards

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of solar sales experience
  • 5+ year of sales management or team leadership experience
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding solar sales targets
  • Strong understanding of residential solar sales processes
  • Experience using CRM systems and sales tracking tools
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing remote or hybrid solar sales teams
  • Strong knowledge of PPA, solar financing, and energy savings presentations
  • Background in door-to-door or in-home solar sales
